  • 22-year Nesconset resident, married for 33 years to Mick, a retired NYPD Sergeant currently employed as a School Security Consultant for a private firm that advises school districts across Long Island on best practices for school safety

  • Three children, all of whom successfully graduated from Smithtown schools

  • Vice President of Marketing for a global software technology firm. Decades of experience leading marketing and communications efforts and managing multi-million dollar budgets for Fortune 500 companies.

  • BS in Fashion Merchandising from SUNY Oneonta and AAS in Advertising and Communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology

  • 3-year Tackan PTA President, current 2nd VP of the Smithtown Booster Club, and frequent class and team mom volunteer

Theresa Donohue

  • Lifelong St. James resident, wife and mother to two sons, one a cadet at West Point, and one a student at Smithtown HS East

  • 23-year educator, serving as a classroom teacher, building administrator, district leader, and central office executive

  • Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and professional certifications in both Building and District Administration

  • Active volunteer for The Smithtown East Football Touchdown Club and Boy Scout troop 7

  • West Point Long Island Field Force Parent Volunteer

  • Former St. James Firefighter and EMT-D

Brandon Solomon

  • 13-year Smithtown resident, husband of a Smithtown educator, and father of twin elementary students at Mills Pond Elementary

  • Holds a BS in Business Management; currently a Project Manager overseeing multi-million dollar residential and commercial developments on Long Island

  • Experienced in managing large-scale budgets with a strong track record in fiscal responsibility and facilities oversight; known for delivering complex projects on time and on budget

  • Active school and community volunteer: PTA Council delegate, Site-Based Team alternate, class parent, and youth soccer/Little League coach

Recently, we sat down to talk about those priorities, and one thing we all agreed on is the importance of strong, ongoing professional development for our teachers. If we want our kids to succeed and be ready for the future, we need to make sure our teachers have the tools, training, and support to get them there. One of the areas we touched upon was AI and how quickly it is changing how we live. Some of our teachers have already started receiving professional development in AI, and that’s a great first step. But with how fast AI is evolving, that training needs to be continuous and built into how we support educators going forward.

We remain committed to focusing on what really matters. This time, we sat down to discuss our aging facilities and how to prioritize wants vs. needs, while giving our stakeholders a say and remaining transparent with the entire process.
